On attitude...

... in which I wax philosophical a little...

This may be a departure from my regular notes, so if I offend I sincerely apologize. Not to worry, more regular city planning type entries are forthcoming.

I have heard it said that 10% of life is what happens to you, while 90% is your attitude about it.

There are many things outside of our control. Things may not go our way. Then again, they may. But it seems that we often have little control over what happens in the world. I cannot, for example, dive a mile down to that sunken oil rig and plug whatever's leaking. As much as I would like to...

But how I react to what happens is ALWAYS in my control. I am the master of my life, and like a captain of a vessel, can determine whether I sail into the wind or with it. Truly, there are times when the wind is at my back and all is right with the world. And there are times when I choose to sail into the wind. But what I must focus on is my ultimate destination.

As fellow-travelers on the big blue ball, I think we could be much more cognizant of those around us and how our attitude affects them. There is little that goes with us into the grave. There is little in life that is really, truly important and worth getting worked up about. So cheer up! Life is good. And things ultimately always work out for the best.
